One of the best places I have found that offer a beginner motorcycle training class is at a Harley Davidson Dealership. They will teach you everything you need to know to get you on the road and enjoying that bad new ride. They call it the Harley Davidson Boot Camp. Don’t worry, you won’t have to do any push ups or run 10 miles a day. They will, however, go into great detail about every aspect of the motorcycle you will ever need to know. They may also try to get you interested in buying one of their bikes as well.
Another place to consider searching for a motorcycle training class is your local community college. Believe it or not many community colleges offer this as an elective to their students. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be enrolled as a full time student to take advantage of this great learning opportunity. Most community colleges allow anyone to take one or two classes without being considered a full time student and having to apply for admission. Just call your local college and ask if they offer a training class or stop by and speak to someone in the admissions office or the registrar’s office.
The Motorcycle Safety Foundation is another great way to find a motorcycle training class in your area. This foundation pretty much wrote the book on motorcycle safety programs and they have certified trainers in locations throughout the country. They have an outstanding website where you can enter your city and state and get a listing of qualified locations that offer their courses. And they have many courses to choose from, too.
Courses offered through the Motorcycle Safety Foundation include Basic Rider Course, Basic Bike-Bonding Course, Street Rider Course, Street Rider Course II, Ultimate Bike Bonding Course, and Introductory Motorcycle Experience. Check out their website to get more information on the motorcycle training classes offered and the location of a training center near you.
For the more advanced rider, CLASS Motorcycle Schools offers one of the best advanced motorcycle training classes. This isn’t any normal motorcycle training class. This class is geared more towards those interested in street bikes and racing. In this class you will learn how to better control a high performance motorbike. You will also learn proper techniques for handling the bike and gain more confidence in your overall skills. Check out their website for more details.
